It was a hard day for Condoleezma, but we just had to have her, so we brought home another little Scamp to play with. Bigger than Condy, but like her, she won't grow any bigger.
Meet our New Little Scamp
We found it at an antique show at a local Fairground. It was not being offered for sale, but like a moth to a flame, Allen was immediately drawn to it and asked if it were for sale. It was. A few weeks later, at the end of the antique circuit season, we picked it up. We never did see the inside of it until after it was ours.... a mistake. It also meant Jef had to get a hitch put on his truck in order to haul it. It is over 20 years old, is only 13 feet long, and we are able to move it about the parking lot by hand... which is good because we could not turn into the lot from the alley with it attached to the truck. Because it is basically Allen's baby, he was kind enough to move his car onto the street so we could use his parking space to store it. It was dirty, and after getting home we found out it was also full of fleas. There were other repair issues as well. After tearing out the carpet, 8 flea bombs, cleaning, scrubbing, repairing, re-carpeting, etc. We finally made it habitable and have actually had it out - twice. It sleeps 4 with a table that converts to a double bed on one end of the camper and two bunks on the other end. It has a refrigerator, gas stove, sink, heater and much to Allen's delight at the campgrounds... an air conditioner. It needs more work, and we are getting to it, but already it is a different beast than when we first brought it home. |
